Alex Loes recorded seven RBIs and scored three runs to help the Mitchell Mad Dogs defeat the Corsica/Stickney Jags 16-8 in a Sunshine League amateur baseball game Friday at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.
Loes also pitched three innings in relief of winning pitcher Greg Hento. Hento allowed six runs in five innings and Loes struck out eight batters.
Josiah Stroup finished the game on the mound for Mitchell, striking out two in his one inning.
Andy Everson had three hits for the Mad Dogs and crossed the plate five times.
Luke Bamberg led the Jags at the plate, recording three hits including a double. Steven Blom scored twice for Corsica/Stickney.

Mitchell improved its Sunshine League record to 2-6 and will take on Dimock/Emery at 7 p.m. Sunday in Emery.
Corsica/Stickney's next league action comes against the Parkston Mudcats at 7 p.m. Sunday in Parkston.

Platte Killer Tomatoes 5
PARKSTON-- The Parkston Rock Bass defeated the Platte Killer Tomatoes 7-5 in Sunshine League amateur baseball action Friday in Parkston.
Richie Wiese picked up the win for the Rock Bass. He pitched a complete game, allowed 12 hits, gave up five runs -- three earned -- and struck out nine.
For Parkston, Billy Hamilton went 3-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a double and Billy Murtha went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a triple and two stolen bases. Dylan Mogck went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Chris Welch went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI.
Cade Hernan took the loss for Platte, he pitched six innings. Keith Cutler went 2-for-2 with a walk, Tommy Holleman went 3-for-5 with a run scored and Mike Severson went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Killer Tomatoes.

The Rock Bass are now 4-4 overall and 4-4 in league play. Their next game is Friday when they host Dimock/Emery. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
