BISMARCK, N.D. -- Dakota Wesleyan University outscored Jamestown 21-6 in the second half to secure its second consecutive win Saturday.
DWU quarterback Zachary Lester threw a career-high four touchdown passes and the defense forced three turnovers in the 35-16 Great Plains Athletic Conference win.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead when Lester connected with Chance Sorenson on a 64-yard touchdown with less than three minutes left in the first quarter and Preston Emerson returned a blocked punt for a score moments later.
The Jimmies trimmed the lead to 14-10 at halftime, but Lester found Wagner native Preston Nedved for an 8-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the second half. Jamestown (1-6) came back on a 71-yard strike from Cade Torgerson to Steven Justice on the next play from scrimmage.
DWU (3-5) extended the lead on the ensuing drive, as Lester found Spencer Neugebauer wide open in the middle of the field for a 15-yard touchdown. The two would hook up again for a 15-yard score on the first play in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
