BISMARCK, N.D. -- Dakota Wesleyan University outscored Jamestown 21-6 in the second half to secure its second consecutive win Saturday.

DWU quarterback Zachary Lester threw a career-high four touchdown passes and the defense forced three turnovers in the 35-16 Great Plains Athletic Conference win.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead when Lester connected with Chance Sorenson on a 64-yard touchdown with less than three minutes left in the first quarter and Preston Emerson returned a blocked punt for a score moments later.

The Jimmies trimmed the lead to 14-10 at halftime, but Lester found Wagner native Preston Nedved for an 8-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the second half. Jamestown (1-6) came back on a 71-yard strike from Cade Torgerson to Steven Justice on the next play from scrimmage.

DWU (3-5) extended the lead on the ensuing drive, as Lester found Spencer Neugebauer wide open in the middle of the field for a 15-yard touchdown. The two would hook up again for a 15-yard score on the first play in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Lester finished 16 of 24 for 199 yards, while Neugebauer had eight receptions for 63 yards. Sorenson had three catches for 74 yards. Emery native Jamin Arend recorded the first 100-yard rushing performance of his career, toting the ball 24 times for 119 yards.

The Tiger defense held Jamestown to 96 yards on the ground -- 75 coming from Frankie Ingraldi -- on 3.4 yards per attempt. The Jimmies also netted 4.7 yards per pass as Torgerson went 13 of 35 for 164 yards, while Matt Chauvin was 7-for-12 for 58 yards.

DWU also registered six sacks, led by Dominick Warmbein’s 3.5. Reichelt also had half a sack and Menno native Trey Bohlmann added a sack.
