DELL RAPIDS -- Conner Eich’s RBI single in the fifth inning proved to be the game-winner as Lennox nipped McCook 6-5 in the opening round of the Region 3B tournament Tuesday.

A bases-loaded walk tied the game with two outs in the fourth and Jackson Remmers plated two during the ensuing at-bat to give the fifth-seeded Borros a 5-3 advantage. They could not hold the lead, however, as Peyton Eich drove in a run on a ground ball and the No. 4 Orioles tied the game on a passed ball in the bottom of the fourth.

Conner and Peyton Eich had an RBI apiece for Lennox (9-6), while Carter VanHouten went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Peyton Eich allowed three earned runs on six hits and struck out seven over seven innings.

Bobby Koepsell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for McCook (4-8), while Jackson Grady was 2-for-3. Gavin Gordon scattered three earned runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out five.

Lennox dropped its state-qualifying game to top-seeded Dell Rapids, losing 6-5 on a walk-off error.
