PARKSTON -- It took eight innings, but Vermillion took down Parkston, 5-3, in Legion baseball action on Monday.
Vermillion’s Willis Robertson hit a two-run single in the eighth to spark a three-run frame. Sam Ward, Jack Kratz and Charlie Ward all doubled, as it finished with five hits as a team. Gray Peterson picked up the win, allowing an earned run on three hits in three relief innings.
Max Scott took the loss for Parkston, as he gave up three runs (one earned) in an inning of work. Kade Bialas struck out four and allowed two earned runs in a 6.2-inning start. Nate Boettcher went 3 of 4 with a triple. Caden Lenz had two hits.
Parkston (7-5) travels to Salem today.
