Legion baseball roundup: Strong pitching leads Alexandria past Garretson

Alexandria earned a Legion baseball win on Sunday.

GARRETSON -- Craig Lasley struck out three batters as he held Garretson to one run, helping Alexandria Post 41 earn a 10-1 Legion baseball win over Garretson Post 23 on Sunday.

Lasley allowed eight hits, but Alexandria responded with 13 hits and four doubles. It scored in six of the seven innings, including five runs between the second and third innings to build a 6-1 lead.

Blake Klinkhammer went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and four runs. Reggie Slaba and Jonah Hofer also added two hits.

Alexandria (4-10) hosts Vermillion on Wednesday.

Winner/Colome 14, Stanley County 4

WINNER -- Winner/Colome Post 169 used a six-run second inning and five-run fourth inning to get past Stanley County Post 20 in Legion baseball action on Sunday.


Jackson Kinzer led Winner/Colome with three hits as he and Oscar Pravecek both drove in two runs. Pravecek also added a pair of hits. Winner/Colome finished with 13 in the win, including Phillip Jorgensen hitting a triple and Tyler Olson doubling.

Joren Bruun allowed four unearned runs, but notched the win as he struck out eight batters in five innings. He held Stanley County to five hits.

Austin Hand suffered the loss, giving up eight runs (two earned) in a 1 2/3-inning start. Stanley County committed six errors.

Winner/Colome (8-4) plays at Valentine, Nebraska, on Tuesday.
