The South Dakota Golf Association women's senior championship will be held July 17-18 in Mitchell at the Lakeview Golf Course.
The championship, open to women age 50 and older, will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The field includes 30 golfers. They will play from the red tees at Lakeview, which measure about 5,700 yards on the par-72 course.
On Sunday, the final round will take place with the first tee times at 8 a.m. and the leaders expected to tee off around 9:30 a.m.
Tara Volesky and Debra Eilts are two Mitchell women competing for the championship. In 2020, Volesky finished in a three-way tie for second place in the tournament held at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls. Also in the tournament this weekend is Stickney's Julie Van Gorp.
Jackie Witlock, the 2018 and 2020 champion in the SDGA women's senior, will be in the lead group teeing off at 8 a.m.
Along with Volesky, fellow second-place finisher Joan Hegerfeld-Baker, of Volga, is also in the field, as is top-five finisher from 2020 Pam Hoiland, of Sioux Falls. Hoiland was the 2017 women's senior champion when it was played at Hillcrest Golf Course in Yankton.
