PIERRE -- The Mitchell High School baseball team got its first two victories of the season Saturday in Pierre.
The Kernels scored 22 runs while holding the Governors scoreless in their doubleheader. Mitchell won the first game 12-0 and took the second game 10-0. Both were conference victories.
In game one, Mitchell amassed 12 hits -- a season high for the Kernels.
Evan Mastel and Jared Schmidt each were 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Kirby Fuerst pitched a scoreless four innings on the mound for Mitchell. He allowed just three hits and struck out four Pierre batters.

"I was very happy to see us come out and swing the bat after starting 0-2," Mitchell baseball coach Luke Norden said. "It was consistence up and down the lineup in both games."
In the second leg of the doubleheader, Mitchell's Michael Sadler got his first win of the season after pitching four innings and allowing no runs. Sadler got help at the plate from Derek Miller and Dylanger Pierson.
Pierson was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Miller finished 3-for-3 with three singles and two runs scored.
"I don't think we did anything different (Saturday) than the first two games," Norden said. "We had the same approach as we did in our first two games. We just had one bad inning in those games, and Saturday we didn't have one."
Mitchell is back in action at 6 p.m. Thursday in an away game against Yankton.
