Kernels place 3rd at Brookings golf meet

BROOKINGS--The Mitchell High School girls golf team placed third at the Bill Scholten Invitational on Thursday. The Kernels shot a 345 at the Brookings Country Club.

BROOKINGS-The Mitchell High School girls golf team placed third at the Bill Scholten Invitational on Thursday. The Kernels shot a 345 at the Brookings Country Club.

Mitchell's Masy Mock shot an 81 and tied for fourth place. Aberdeen Central's Sydney Wirebaugh was the individual medalist with a 75, edging teammate Cassidy Gough by one stroke.

Mitchell's Ashley Zimmer finished in a five-way tie for 10th place with an 84. Other Mitchell golfers and their scores included: T-23. Makayla Grissom (88), T-31. Delilah Brinker (92), T-44. Ella Flippin (99) and 51. Shannen Koch (102).

The Kernels will compete in the Watertown Invitational on Monday at Prairie Winds Golf Course.
