The Pierre Governors took games from the Mitchell High School baseball team in a doubleheader on Sunday at Cadwell Park.
Pierre edged Mitchell 6-5 in the first game and used a six-run fifth inning to power past the Kernels in the second game for a 10-4 win. In the two games, Pierre outhit Mitchell 21-11.
In Game 1, Mitchell took an early 1-0 lead when Jackson Sadler scored on a fielder's choice by Austin Kerr. Pierre responded with three runs in the top of the third inning, two in the top of the fourth inning and one in the top of the fifth inning to lead 6-1.
An RBI double by Drew Kitchens scored Peyton Nash to make it 6-2 and a Kerr single scored Briggs Havlik and Kitchens to make it 6-4. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Kitchens scored on a fielder's choice by Max Schoenfelder but the rally ended there.
Baley Miller took the loss, allowing six runs (one earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks in five innings pitched. Mitchell finished with seven errors, while Pierre had two.

In Game 2, Mitchell led 2-0 after four innings before Pierre scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Kernels added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before Pierre sealed the sweep with four runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Kitchens finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, while Nash, Havlik and Miller each had one hit. Kerr took the loss in relief of Sadler, who gave up three earned runs on eight hits with five walks and one strikeout in four innings pitched.
Mitchell (6-8) plays at Brandon Valley today in Brandon.
