ABERDEEN - The Mitchell High School girls golf team struggled on Tuesday at the Hub City Invitational in Aberdeen.
The Kernels had a 427 score as a team, finishing fourth out of four teams. Aberdeen Central was the team winner with a score of 340.
"We struggled with that course," said Mitchell coach Keri Munsen, of Lee Park Golf Club. "They're not used to a course where you have to hit it straight every time. That's what counted today and I think it was good to get that experience for some of these girls that are still getting used to being challenged like that."
Mitchell's leading scorer was Jordyn Cranny, who shot a 101 and finished in 12th place in a field of 23. Kailee Henglefelt was 13th with a score of 106 and Delilah Brinker was 14th, shooting a personal-best round of 108.
"Deliliah Brinker has played a couple of varsity matches and today was her best varsity round so far," Munsen said. "She's out for golf for the first time as a sophomore and she's getting better each time out, so that's a great thing to see."
