WATERTOWN -- The Mitchell High School wrestling team went 3-1 at the Watertown Dual Tournament on Saturday. The Kernels defeated Huron (45-27), Yankton (61-6) and Milbank (54-16), while they also fell to Watertown (42-36).

The Kernels were powered by Brandon and Brock Sparks. Brandon Sparks finished 3-1 in the 126-pound division, while Brock Sparks (132) went 3-0 on contested matches and also picked up a win via forfeit.

Kernel heavyweight Wyatt Winter posted a 3-1 record and recorded three pins on the day. Joe VanOverschelde (182) picked up a pair of wins for the Kernels.

Mitchell’s Kaileb Hubbard (120), Jagger Tyler (138), Riley McGinnis (145), Tucker Vilhauer (152), Tate Ellwein (170) and Cordell Kunkel (220) each picked up contested victories.

The Kernels will compete at the Rapid City Central Tournament on Dec. 11-12.
