HURON -- The Mitchell High School wrestling team earned a one-point win over Huron on Thursday. Both teams scored 39 points, but the Kernels were awarded an extra point due to having fewer open weight classes, giving them a 40-39 dual victory.

Mitchell leaned on its lightweights in its win. Spencer Eldeen pinned Peyton Bischoff in 1 minute, 56 seconds at 106 pounds, followed by Kaileb Hubbard’s (113) pin of Aiden Zavesky. Tucker Vilhauer (152) pinned Beauty Moon in 1 minute, 13 seconds, while Brock Sparks (132) picked up the Kernels’ fourth pin against Colt Dunkelberger.

Jagger Tyler (126) earned a 4-1 decision against Will Radke. Tate Elwein (170) and Joe VanOverschelde (182) both won via forfeit.

Mitchell travels to Sioux Falls Washington on Saturday.
