Kernel volleyball drops four-set match to Watertown

WATERTOWN -- The Mitchell High School volleyball team took a set against Watertown, but it wasn’t enough in a four-set loss on Saturday to close the regular season.

Watertown claimed a share of the Eastern South Dakota Conference title with the 25-15, 25-14, 22-25 and 25-7 win.

Cameryn Logan paced the Kernel attack with 12 kills, which marked her 1,000th career kill. Logan also added 15 digs in the loss. Katy Sebert dished out 31 assists and Sarah Sebert finished with a team-high 18 digs for the Kernels.

Lizzie Tyler finished with 10 kills and eight digs. Kaspen Alm put down seven kills in the four-set loss.

Watertown’s Jadyn Hoftiezer recorded 15 kills and 11 digs, while Anna Johnson added a team-high 16 digs. Emerson Smith also recorded double-digit kills with 12 in the win. Olivia Corey dished out 32 assists.

Mitchell (6-13) travels to Aberdeen Central on Thursday in the SoDak 16.
