Kernel tennis earns home sweep over Spearfish

The Mitchell High School girls tennis team didn’t drop a set en route to a 9-0 victory over Spearfish on Saturday at Hitchcock Park.

Atlanta Stahle (Flight 1) cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Anna Engen at the top of Mitchell’s singles card. In Flight 3, Amber Moller picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Lindsey Huck and Kiersten Bathke (Flight 5) didn’t drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Emma Frey. Megan Mastel (Flight 6) also picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win against Rebecca Anglin.

Two flights featured junior varsity players, but Mitchell won both matches. Elly Clement (Flight 2) picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win and Tristen Zimmer (Flight 4) won 6-2, 6-4.

Mitchell found the same success in doubles play. Stahle and Moller teamed up to defeat Engen and Anglin, 6-0, 6-1, in the top doubles flight. In Flight 2 doubles, Olivia Huber and Bathke notched a 6-0, 6-2 win. Julia Platt and Delaney Degen (Flight 3) won 6-0, 6-0.

Mitchell travels to Madison for a dual on Tuesday.
