YANKTON -- The Mitchell High School softball team dropped three games on Saturday to place sixth at the Eastern South Dakota Conference tournament. Mitchell fell 4-2 to Brookings, 11-2 to Harrisburg and 8-4 to Watertown in the fifth-place game.
Against Brookings, Mitchell fell behind 3-0 and couldn’t mount a comeback. Kathleen Nash had two of Mitchell’s seven hits, while Keirstyn Krcil recorded the Kernels’ only RBI. Jacey Linke took the loss, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits and striking out three.
In Game 2, Harrisburg’s six-run second inning erased Mitchell’s early 2-0 lead. Harrisburg scored 11 unanswered runs on 15 hits.
Mitchell had nine hits, including a pair of doubles from Camryn Krogman, who finished 3 of 3 at the top of the lineup. Nash and Ally Barlean both recorded two hits. Krcil gave up 11 runs (nine earned) on 15 hits and four walks in a complete-game effort.
In the fifth-place game, Watertown pulled away from a tie game with four runs in the sixth inning. It outhit the Kernels, 15-10.

Krogman and Nash both hit a double for Mitchell, as Krogman had another three-hit game. Krcil and Linke both finished 2-for-3 with an RBI apiece. On the mound, Linke took the loss, allowing eight runs (four earned).
Mitchell (3-18) hosts Harrisburg at 6 p.m. Thursday.
