The Mitchell High School gymnastics team continued to raise the bar on Thursday.

After posting 143.200 and 143.900 in their first two meets, the Kernels scored a season-high 145.850 during a home quadrangular at MEGA.

“We may have scored higher than that one time last year,” Mitchell coach Audra Rew said. “But for the most part, we are beating our last year’s scores by quite a bit.”

In the all-around, Mitchell’s Emily Moody (35.95) and Chelsey Mohr (35.75) finished first and second, respectively.

Moody posted a 9.200 in the vault, while Kyra Gropper scored a 9.100 in the bars. Joslin Sommerville (9.500) and Masy Mock (9.350) had the best scores in the floor and beam, respectively.

The Kernels had four of the five best scores in the beam, with Sidney Malde (9.200) and Moody (9.100) right behind their teammates.

“Beam scores were great,” Rew said. “I was happy with that. I feel like we are starting to really hit some of our skills. We are into our third meet of the year and I kind of feel like they are kind of settling down and cleaning things up.”

Mitchell will compete at the Aberdeen Central Invitational on Saturday.
