YANKTON -- The Mitchell High School boys golf team shot a 319 and captured seventh at the Yankton Invitational on Saturday.
The Kernels were bunched together with four other teams for fourth-through-seventh place, finishing just eight strokes away from placing fourth.
Sioux Falls Lincoln (299) earned the team championship at Fox Run Golf Course. Individually, Lincoln’s Luke Honner shot a one-under-par 71 and edged Rapid City Stevens’ Jonah Swartz (72) for the title.
Mitchell’s Lincoln Bates (76) tied for 12th place and his round was highlighted by four birdies. He shot a one-over-par 37 on the front nine.
Mitchell’s Macon Larson (77) was just behind Bates and tied for 15th place. Larson’s round was highlighted by a one-over-par 37 on the back nine.

Jackson Childs (78) and Noah Larson (88) tied for 20th and 68th place, respectively. Will Prunty (98) finished in 87th place and Carter Harris (99) tied for 88th place.
The Kernels will play at the Brookings Invitational on Monday.
