The Mitchell High School girls soccer team scored double-digit goals in a runaway 10-0 win over Huron on Thursday at Joe Quintal Field.

“We played a complete game of soccer,” MHS coach Bob Lemon said. “We moved the ball around and the girls were really connecting passes and finding open teammates.”

The Kernels led 6-0 at halftime, and then added four more in the second half. Mia Mullenmeister scored the match’s first two goals. Grace Endorf, Lily Peterson and Sam Gerlach all had two goals. Macy Kempf and Caroline Titze each added a goal in the win, as well.

“Early on we might have been over-passing, and it took us a little bit of time to find our rhythm,” Lemon said. “But once we were able to find the right teammate, things went well and we were able to keep applying pressure to them.”

Mitchell led 41-1 in shots, as Kennedy Knippling saved Huron’s only shot on goal.

“The highlight of the night was when all 11 of the Kernel seniors were on the field at the same time,” Lemon said.

Mitchell (8-2-1) travels to Brookings on Tuesday.
