RAPID CITY -- The Mitchell High School girls basketball team ended each half strong, powering it to a 70-52 win over Rapid City Stevens on Saturday. It’s the Kernels second straight win.

Mitchell trailed 14-8 after the first quarter, but a 30-point second quarter turned the small deficit into a 38-23 lead. The Raiders cut into the deficit in the third quarter, but once again, the Kernels had a response. They pulled away with a 23-point fourth quarter.

The Kernels relied on their four seniors, while freshman Sawyer Stoebner entered the starting lineup for the first time this season.
