The Mitchell High School girls soccer team notched another shutout win on Thursday at Joe Quintal Field, as it topped Garretson, 2-0.

“We were able to possess the ball for long stretches of time,” MHS coach Bob Lemon said. “We passed the ball better than we have all season. The final score really does not reflect how much we controlled the ball.”

Caroline Titze saved four shots in the win for the Kernels. The Kernels held a 16-7 advantage in the shot column.

Mitchell scored a goal in each half. Sam Gerlach netted the first goal in the first half, which was assisted by Macy Kempf. In the second half, Marianna Novak scored on a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining in the match.

“Garretson's goalkeeper, Kayla Genzlinger, played a great game,” Lemon said. “She came out when she needed to and denied us several opportunities by her aggressive play.”
