Sioux Falls native Tom Jansa was tabbed as the new executive director of the South Dakota Golf Association, replacing Wade Merry, who resigned earlier in the summer after serving in the position dating back to 2005.

Jansa began his career as an assistant golf professional at Elmwood Golf Course in 1987, before helping form Dakota Golf Management in 1995 with Terry Comstock, which managed golf operations at Elmwood, Kuehn Park and Prairie Green golf courses in Sioux Falls until 2017. He also led the boys and girls golf teams at O'Gorman High School to two state championships apiece in three years.

"I am honored to have been selected as the next Executive Director of the SDGA," Jansa said. "I look forward to working with the Board, member courses, sponsors, and golfers to grow the great game of golf in South Dakota."

Jansa's duties begin on Oct. 1.
