Mitchell Christian led 39-33 after three quarters, but Iroquois/Doland held the Golden Eagles to six points in the final frame to complete a 47-45 comeback victory in girls basketball on Tuesday night.
Of the Golden Eagles’ 15 made field goals, seven came from behind the 3-point line, while the Chiefs were held to two 3-point field goals. Both teams made nine free throws in the contest.
Mitchell Christian scored 31 points across the second and third quarters, but Iroquois/Doland managed at least a dozen points in each of the final three periods.
Senior Audrey Hofer paced all scorers with 27 points for the Golden Eagles, who also got nine points from freshman Rebekah Strong, all on 3-pointers.
Katie Dubro and Rebecca Bich each notched 15 points for the Chiefs (1-2), who host Langford Area on Dec. 28.

Mitchell Christian’s 18-point fourth quarter lifts the Golden Eagles to their first win of the season
As Mitchell Christian dropped 26 points in the first half, they followed that up with a 18-point fourth quarter to earn its first win of the season over Iroquois/Doland on Tuesday night by a score of 51-21.
The Golden Eagles held the Chiefs to five points in the second quarter and Iroquois/Doland scored a total of six points in the second half. Mitchell Christian made five 3-pointers and shot 10-of-15 from the free throw line in the win.

Micah Frey set the tone for the Golden Eagles, scoring 13 points and snatching nine rebounds. Aiden Lieber had 13 points as well, with five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Nahum Anderberg shot 4-of-8 from the field as he scored 10 points and two steals. Anders Enga also had nine points and seven rebounds.
Iroquois/Doland’s Haydon Shurson led the Chiefs with 12 points. Tristan Dykstra added four points and Teagan Mason three points.
