PARKER -- The Howard wrestling team opened the season with a 2-1 record at the Parker quadrangular on Tuesday.
The Tigers topped Beresford/Alcester-Hudson, 55-21, to begin the day and then fell to Parker, 42-29, before rebounding to beat Sioux Valley, 61-18.
Reigning Class B state champion Lane Miller went a perfect 3-0 on the day, scoring a pin of BAH’s Payton Borah at 145 pounds in 2 minutes, 40 seconds to start and adding another fall against Parker’s Jack Even in 1:46. Miller closed the day with a technical fall against Sioux Valley’s Russell Sheets, 18-2.
Kieffer Klinkhammer also went unbeaten at 132, scoring a major decision and a pair of technical falls. Riley Genzlinger won all three of his matches at 138 -- two by forfeit -- and beat Parker’s Kaleb Buseman by decision, 6-4.
Ty Beyer pinned BAH’s Aaron Larson in 50 seconds at 160, while earning a 6-1 decision over Parker’s Blake Eldeen and a 21-second fall over Sioux Valley’s Joe Hornick. Isaac Feldhaus pinned BAH’s Alex Jensen in 56 seconds at 220 and won an 11-4 decision against Parker’s Levi Wieman, while adding a forfeit win.
