Dakota Wesleyan University freshman Ty Hoglund was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week on Tuesday.

Hoglund, a Dell Rapids native, helped lead the Tigers to two GPAC wins over Morningside College and Hastings College last week.

He dropped 33 points on 14-of-21 shooting from the field in DWU's 84-79 win over the Broncos on Saturday and finished with 21 points in a 101-72 win over Morningside College on Thursday.

Hoglund is averaging 17.7 points per game, which is sixth best in the GPAC, and he's reached double digits in 21 of 25 games this season.

This is Hoglund's first GPAC player of the week honor of his career.
