HURON -- After digging a seemingly unsalvageable deficit, the Mitchell Marlins boys hockey team mounted a furious comeback, only to fall short to the Huron All-Stars on Friday.

Huron scored six goals in the first 26 minutes of the game, with four coming in the power play. Mitchell finally found some momentum, though, and scored five unanswered goals in the final two periods before time ran out in a 6-5 loss.

Trailing 6-0 after three power play goals in the first 6 minutes, 28 seconds of the second period, Austin Kerr put the Marlins on the board with a power play goal of his own at the 13:42 mark. Eric Biggerstaff scored three minutes later to trim the lead to two.

Peyton Nash and Nick Robinson added a pair of goals 1:31 apart and Nick Lord pulled Mitchell within one with 5:43 to play.

Walker Schiltz recorded a hat trick for Huron, while Cooper Letcher stopped 40 shots in the win.

Jeremy Long earned the start and stopped 11 of 16 shots for Mitchell, while backup Tate Daily stopped 15 of 16 shot attempts.
