Grayson Hanson’s walk-off single sends Platte past Alexandria

Grayson Hanson’s walk-off single in the ninth inning lifted Platte to a 7-6 American Legion baseball win over Alexandria on Monday.

PLATTE -- Grayson Hanson’s walk-off single in the ninth inning lifted Platte to a 7-6 American Legion baseball win over Alexandria on Monday.

The walk-off hit came after Platte and Alexandria both plated five runs apiece in the eighth inning. Aiden Bultje scored the game-winning run after leading off the inning with a double.

Hanson finished with three hits and two RBIs. Drayton Priebe posted two hits and one RBI, while Jackson Neuman added two hits. Nate Whalen and Kelby VanDerWerff each had a hit. VanDerWerff drove in two runs, while Priebe had an RBI.

Priebe struck out eight batters, allowed four hits and one unearned run in his five-inning start. Neuman earned the win after pitching one scoreless relief inning.

For Alexandria, Chase Arend and Kade Waldera had two hits apiece. Casey Haynes struck out five batters, allowed six hits, four runs (three earned) and walked two batters in his 7.1-inning start.

Parkston 9, Menno/Scotland 4

PARKSTON -- Max Scott struck out six batters and Parkston recorded seven hits in an American Legion baseball win over Menno/Scotland on Monday.

Scott allowed one hit, one earned run and walked seven batters in the four-inning start. Scott, Kade Bialas, Jon Akre, Isaak Bialas, Josh Polreis, Carter Kalda and Caleb Titze each had a hit.

Akre and Polreis drove in two runs apiece. Landon Sudbeck, Kade Bialas and Logan Heidinger each drove in a run.

For Menno/Scotland, Tyrus Bietz had two of the team’s four hits. Jacob Schott had one hit and drove in two runs. Kadeyn Ulmer added a hit. Austin Pillsbury drove in a run.

Karson Bierle took the loss. He allowed seven hits, seven runs (four earned), struck out one batter and issued two walks.
