EMERY - Two swings of the bat powered Canova to an 18-8 win over the Dimock-Emery Raptors in an amateur baseball game on Tuesday in Emery.
Tyler Genzlinger and Marshall Miller both crushed grand slams to lift Canova to the victory. Genzlinger hit his grand slam in the second inning, while Miller capped the win with his grand slam in the ninth inning.
Genzlinger also picked up the win for the Gang. He pitched five innings and struck out five Dimock-Emery batters. Genzlinger, Miller and Justin Miller all had two hits for Canova.
The Raptors took a 6-1 lead after the first inning, helped by an early Josh Engquist grand slam.
Canova (18-4) will host Humboldt/Hartford at 5 p.m. Saturday in the District 4B tournament. Dimock-Emery (13-13) will play Mount Vernon in a District 5B tournament opener at 6 p.m. Friday in Parkston.
