Three Mitchell golfers captured first-place finishes at the South Dakota Golf Association junior tour stop on Tuesday at Lakeview Golf Course.
Quinn Dannenbring and Asher Dannenbring both won their age divisions, while Allison Meyerink also won her age group.
Quinn Dannenbring captured the 14-15 girls division. She fired a 12-over-par 84, carding seven pars and one birdie in the round. She was four strokes better than Huron’s Bryn Huber, who took second in the age group.
Asher Dannenbring -- Quinn’s brother -- claimed the 10-11 boys division with a 39. Dannenbring’s round included five pars and one birdie.
Meyerink shot a 94 to earn first-place honors in the 12-13 girls division. She finished eight strokes better than Mitchell’s Maddie Childs.
Mitchell’s Jackson Childs shot an 83 and finished in sixth in the 14-15 boys division. Gregory’s Eli Fogel carded an 87 and took 11th in the age group. Ethan’s Kody Klumb (90) and Mitchell’s Jager Juracek (96) placed 17th and 21st, respectively.
Parkston’s Quinn Bormann fired a seven-over-par 79 and tied for seventh in the 16-18 boys division. He shot a 40 on the front nine and a 39 on the back nine. Bormann’s round was highlighted by five pars and five birdies. Mitchell’s Macon Larson shot an 84 and tied for 11th place. He carded 42’s on both nines.
Mitchell’s Brady Reiners (88) and Winner’s Ryder Halligan (90) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 12-13 boys division. Mitchell’s Jaxson Hartman (98) and Carter McCormick (100) were just behind in 11th and 12th, respectively. Mitchell’s Tyler Christensen shot 102 and placed 16th. Mitchell’s Samuel Titze (103) and Dawson Adams (108) took 19th and 20th, respectively.
Mock holds on to win two-day event
RAPID CITY -- The Sanford Series’ two-day stop in Rapid City concluded on Tuesday, as golfers competed at The Golf Club at Red Rock.
Mitchell’s Masy Mock held onto her lead by shooting an 81 on the second day to edge the competition by two strokes. She carded a two-day total of 165, including the lowest score in both rounds. Mock won the event thanks to hitting a birdie on Holes No. 12 and 13 in the second round, along with seven pars.
Box Elder’s Molly Schwartz and Sioux Falls’ Shannon McCormick tied for second at 167 strokes.
On the men’s side, Platte’s Brody Boltjes shot a 164 to tie for 10th place. He carded 88 strokes on the second day. Mitchell’s Max Dailey earned 13th place with a 168, which included 88 strokes on the second round.
Jonah Swartz, of Rapid City, won the event with a four-over-par 147. He carded 72 strokes in the second round to win by five strokes.
The tour continues on June 6 at the Dakota Dunes Country Club.
