ABERDEEN-The Parkston girls golf team sits in third place after the first day of the Class A state tournament at Lee Park Golf Course.

The Trojans carded a 371, trailing second-place Sisseton by five shots. West Central leads the team standings with a 351. Madison (373) is in fourth and Hot Springs (374) is in fifth. Winner is in seventh place with a 388.

Belle Fourche's Payson Birkeland and Sisseton's Kelsey Heath are tied atop the individual standings with 5-over-par 77.

Winner's Rylee Root is tied for eighth place with a 14-over-par 86. Wagner's Caitlyn Stimpson shot an 87 and is tied with four other golfers for 10th place.

Parkston's Hannah Jackson and Ellie Wiedenbach are tied for 15th and 17th place, respectively. Jackson carded an 88, while Wiedenbach shot a 90. Teammate Tylee Neugebauer sits in a three-way for 21st place with a 92.
