The Burke girls golf team cruised to a decisive win at the Class 4B Pre-Region meet on Friday at Lakeview Golf Course.
The Cougars earned four of the top-five spots on the individual leaderboard and shot a 269 as a team, which was 51 strokes lower than second-place Ethan's 320. Platte-Geddes took third with a 321, Mount Vernon/Plankinton was fourth with a 334 and Bon Homme was fifth with 335.
Burke's Taylee Indahl was the medalist after shooting an 84, six strokes ahead of teammate Emily Stukel in second. Burke's Brecken Bartling shot a 95 to finish third, while teammate Adisyn Indahl was fifth with a 97. Platte-Geddes' Mariah Van Zee placed fourth with a 95.
MVP's Reagan Klooz (97) was sixth, while Ethan's Ryanna Clauson (99) was seventh and Bon Homme's Zoe Libis (103) was eighth. Platte-Geddes' Ashton Summerville shot a 106 and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket's Katie Schmit shot a 107 to complete the top 10.
On the boys' side-split between Lakeview and nine holes at Wild Oak Golf Course-Platte-Geddes shot a 234 to edge second-place Gregory by 13 strokes. Bon Homme was third with a 257, followed by Ethan (259) and Kimball/White Lake (275) to round out the top five.
Brody Boltjes finished on top of the individual leaderboard for Platte-Geddes, as his 72 was four strokes ahead of Gregory's J.J. Beck in second place. Platte-Geddes' Stewart Van Zee was third with a 76, while Bon Homme's Carter Libis was fourth with a 78 and Gregory's Eli Fogel was fifth with a 79.
The Ethan duo of Zach Clauson (80) and Kaden Klumb (81) were sixth and seventh, respectively. Kimball/White Lake's Kaden Tyrell, Platte-Geddes' Dawson Hoffman and Burke's Bryce Frank each posted an 86.
The Region 4B tournament is slated for Tuesday at Lakeview and Wild Oak Golf Courses.
Bridgewater-Emery girls take second at 3B Pre-Region tourney
The Bridgewater-Emery girls finished the Class 3B Pre-Region tournament one stroke off the lead after being edged by Garretson, 325-326, at Lakeview Golf Course.
Shaylee Longe led the Huskies, shooting a 103 to earn a third-place finish. Darby Hurd placed fourth with a 110, while Cortney Kayser was fifth with a 113 and Shania Longe was ninth with a 121.
Garretson's Katie Hanson was the medalist with a 90.
Jackson Stahl led the Bridgewater-Emery boys with a 99 and a 10th-place finish on the individual leaderboard, while the Huskies were fourth as a team with a 312.
Canistota's Logan Heinzmann placed 13th with a 101.
Parker won the boys standings with a 244, as Trey Christensen finished on top of the leaderboard with a 79 and teammate Alex Kasten was second with an 80.
The Region 3B tournament is Monday at Lakeview Golf Course.
