BROOKINGS -- Kimball native Russell Pick was knotted with Sioux Falls’ Jack Lundin with three holes to play in the South Dakota Golf Association Men’s Amateur Championship on Sunday.
Pick shot par on the first two holes and birdied the final hole, but Lundin birdied two of the last three holes to squeak out a two-stroke win to finishing a three-round tournament that started Friday at Brookings Country Club.
Lundin carded a 7-under-par 209 for the three rounds, while Pick was 5-under-par.
Mitchell native Brandon Sigmund was tied for fifth with a 2-under-par 214. Mitchell’s Jeff Meyerink also tied for 14th with a 7-over-par 223.
In the women’s division, Parkston’s Sydney Bormann placed sixth with a 22-over-par 238, shooting her best round of the tournament on Sunday with a 77. Pierre’s Katie Bartlett edged Sioux Falls’ Maggie Murphy by two strokes, finishing with a 13-over-par 229.
Mitchell High School standout Masy Mock placed 16th thanks to a 39-over-par 255. Jayden Bormann (Parkston) was 22nd with a 272, Ashley Zimmer (Mitchell) was 23rd with a 275 and Sydney Weber (Parkston) was 25th with a 282.
