DWU, Wiegel finish ninth in GPAC tournament
SIOUX FALLS—Entering the final round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships on Wednesday at Dakota Dunes Country Club, Dakota Wesleyan University freshman Nolan Wiegel was three strokes off the lead.
He wasn't able to keep pace, however, as he shot an 85 to finish with an 11-over-par 295 and a ninth-place finish. Northwestern's Caleb Badura was the medalist, shooting a 75 to finish the tournament 2-under-par, five strokes ahead of Morningside's Corey Matthey.
DWU placed eighth as a team, five strokes ahead of Concordia and 87 strokes behind first-place Morningside.
Mitchell native Cade Carpenter shot a 310 for the tournament to place 24th, while Justice Morrison (326) was 34th and Bennett Lundy (336) was 39th for the Tigers.
