PIERRE -- Masy Mock wasn’t able to move up the leaderboard in the second round of the South Dakota Golf Association state junior golfing a 15-over-par 87. Mock’s score increased by three strokes and finished with a two-day score of 27-over-par 171, 12 strokes behind Sioux Falls’ Shannon McCormick, who edged fellow Sioux Falls native Reese Jansa in a one-hole playoff to win.
Gregory’s Eli Fogel made up significant ground in the boys 14 and 15-year-old division, shooting a 7-over-par 79 to finish tied for ninth. Fogel shot 15-over-par in the first round, but improved his score by eight strokes to move up four spots on the leaderboard.
Parkston’s Payton Koehn also dropped his score by seven strokes, shooting an 83 in the second round and finishing 15th with a two-round score of 173.
Platte’s Brody Boltjes and Parkston’s Quinn Bormann finished in a tie for 22nd in the boys 16-18 division after both shot a 18-over-par 162 for the tournament. Boltjes posted a 79 on Tuesday, while Bromann shot an 81.
Mitchell’s Max Dailey and Max Tupper tied for 27th by shooting a 20-over-par 164 for the tournament. Tupper posted an 84 in the second round and Tupper shot an 86.
Sioux Falls’ Jack Lundin ran away with the tournament championship by seven strokes, shooting 9-under-par 135.
