PIERRE -- The Mitchell duo of Aaron Hieb and Quinn Dannenbring claimed the 12-and-13 age division title at the South Dakota Golf Association’s Adult-Junior Championships at Hillcrest Golf Course Sunday.
Hieb and Dannenbring shot a score of 82, which had them even with three other teams, but Hieb and Dannenbring won the tiebreaker to claim the division title. They had birdies on par-4 No. 15 and No. 18 to close the round.
In the 11-and-under division, Mitchell’s Asher Dannenbring and Andy Tate finished tied for seventh, shooting 89 as a team. The division was won by Chad Knapp and Lauren Knapp with a score of 79.
Tea’s Eric Munson and Joe Munson won the 14-and-15 division with a round of 75, while Reese Jansa and Ryan Jansa, of Sioux Falls, shot a 2-under round of 70 to win the 16-18 division and the overall adult-junior title.
Max Dailey and Doug Dailey finished ninth in the 16-18 division, shooting a round of 81, while Masy Mock and Craig Mock tied for 11th, shooting 83. Brody Boltjes and Tom Boltjes, of Platte, were tied for 22nd with a round of 89, while Max Tupper and Ryan Tupper were 28th, shooting a 97.
The tournament is an alternate shot format, with children teeing off on odd-numbered holes, and the adults teeing off on even-numbered holes. The adult in the pair must be a relative of the child and at least 25 years of age.
Many of the same junior golfers will compete Monday and Tuesday in the state junior championships at Hillcrest in Pierre.
