The Mitchell Christian Golden Eagles boys basketball team used a strong defensive second half to earn a 44-43 comeback win over Kimball/White Lake on Thursday in Mitchell.
“I was proud of how the kids came back and our defensive effort was the difference,” MCS head coach Dennis Martin said. “We just wanted to get out of there with a W and Kimball/White Lake is a really physical team.”
Majok Kur had a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling in 17 rebounds, while adding eight blocks for Mitchell Christian. Ethan Cooper and Austin Bornmann added nine and eight points, respectively.
Kimball/White Lake was led by Eathen Gaulke, who had 12 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three assists in the loss.
“We need work on our turnovers. We committed 17 turnovers, and that really plagued us,” Martin said. “We have to do a better job of taking care of the basketball and distribute the ball better.”
MCS (2-0) plays Andes Central today in Lake Andes. Kimball/White Lake (0-3) plays James Valley Christian on Saturday in Huron.
