Golden Eagle boys earn road win over WiLdKats

KIMBALL -- In a back-and-forth game, the Mitchell Christian boys basketball team took control of the contest late and defeated Kimball/White Lake 73-66 in a prep boys basketball contest in Kimball on Thursday.

KIMBALL - In a back-and-forth game, the Mitchell Christian boys basketball team took control of the contest late and defeated Kimball/White Lake 73-66 in a prep boys basketball contest in Kimball on Thursday.

"I can't be prouder of the way the kids played," MCS head coach Dennis Martin said. "We really stepped it up and we're happy to come away with a win."

The Golden Eagles' Majok Kur had 27 points and eight rebounds in the winning effort. Riley O'Neill, Ethan Cooper and Ty Vander Pol all added 11-point efforts for MCS (2-0). Vander Pol added eight rebounds as well. Zach Bosworth had five assists for the Golden Eagles.

"Majok as usual touched the ball a lot and he was a real force in the paint for us," Martin said.

The WiLdKats (0-2), who led at halftime 32-30, were paced by Kory Peters and his 15-point, eight-rebound effort for K/WL. Josh Taylor had 12 points and Javen Holan added 11 points.

Seth Kirsch had five assists and Corbin Heath had four steals.

Kimball/White Lake's won the junior varsity game 35-19.

After two wins, the Golden Eagles will enjoy 10 days between games and will face Prairie Seeds Academy (Minn.) in the opening game of the Mike Miller Classic at 11 a.m. on Dec. 28.

"We don't know a lot about Prairie Seeds, but the kids are pumped and excited to play in the game and we'll be ready," Martin said.

The WiLdKats host James Valley Christian on Saturday in White Lake.
