RAPID CITY -- Arron Lickteig of Freeman edged out Cal Wiese of Howard for the boys' state Class B individual tournament title in a sudden-death round Tuesday at Hart Ranch in Rapid City.
Lickteig and Wiese, were tied at the end of day two with a score of 157 and had to enter in a sudden death round to determine the winner.
"It felt good to win," Lickteig said. "I was almost speechless when I won. I was kind of shocked. It felt great."
The two played hole No. 1 and tied, they then proceeded hole No. 9 on which they tied again and then finally on hole No. 10, Lickteig beat Wiese by one shot to claim the title.
Freeman golf coach Ryan Mors said Lickteig started out two shots behind on day two and at one point in the day fell six shots behind, but was able to refocus and come back and get within one shot. On the 18th hole, Lickteig had a par and Wiese had a bogie which sent them into the playoff round.

"It's a great accomplishment for him and I'm very proud of him," Mors said.
"We were happy to get into the sudden death round and it was exciting to know he had a chance to win it."
Lickteig also went the whole season without losing a golf tournament; an accomplishment Mors said is also something to be proud of.
"To go the whole season without losing at tournament, including the state tournament, is quite a feat. That's something (Lickteig) should be really proud of."
Wiess and Lickteig also made the All-Tournament team along with Jake Heumiller of McCook Central/Montrose. Heumiller came in sixth place with a score of 165. Russell Pick of Kimball finished in eighth place with a score of 168 and Platte-Geddes's Tate Van Zee rounded out the top 15 with a score of 172.
White River claimed the team title with a score of 515, Webster came in second place with a score and Garretson took third with a score of 524. Kimball took sixth place with a score of 535, McCook Central/Montrose came in eighth place with a score of 544 and Platte-Geddes's 546 score was good for 10th place.
