Freeman native sets track and field record

ALEXANDRIA, Vir. -- At the Potomac Valley Games on Sunday, four men set the new masters world record in the 1600-meter relay for men 65 years and older. They finished in 4 minutes, 1.03 seconds, topping the old record by more than one second.

David Ortman, Charlie Allie, Thomas Jones and George Haywood set the record. Ortman is a Freeman Academy graduate, who won the Class B 120-yard high hurdles in 1971.
