The South Dakota Prep Media football polls for the week of Oct. 18 are listed below, ranking the top-five teams in each class. First-place votes received are indicated in parentheses.

Class 11AAA

1. Harrisburg (20), 8-0, 108; 2. Brandon Valley (2), 8-0, 90; 3. Roosevelt, 4-4, 59; 4. Lincoln, 5-3, 37; 5. Jefferson, 4-4, 22.

Rough Riders climb to No. 3: Aside from No. 1 Harrisburg and No. 2 Brandon Valley, Sioux Falls Roosevelt is the biggest mover, jumping to No. 3 after its third straight win of the season, most recently over previous No. 3 Lincoln, 49-21.

Class 11AA

1. Tea Area (18), 8-0, 106; 2. Pierre (4), 7-1, 91; 3. Brookings, 6-2, 67; 4. Yankton, 4-4, 43; 5. Watertown, 3-5, 13.

All in line: The same top-5 remains in place for the third-straight week, as No. 2 Pierre and No. 3 Brookings will meet this Thursday in the Capital City.

Others receiving votes: Aberdeen Central 9, Mitchell 1.

Class 11A

1. Madison (22), 8-0, 110; 2. Canton, 7-1, 88; 3. Dell Rapids, 5-3, 46; 4. Vermillion, 5-3, 41; 5. West Central, 4-4, 19.

Reshuffle the top-5: The top-5 remains the same this week, but Dell Rapids climbs from No. 5 to No. 3 this week, with Vermillion falling one spot to No. 4 after a loss to Tri-Valley. West Central moves down to No. 5 after a home loss to No. 1 Madison.

Others receiving votes: Tri-Valley 12, Lennox 8, Milbank 6.

Class 11B

1. Winner (22), 8-0, 110; 2. Sioux Valley, 7-1, 87; 3. Groton Area, 7-1, 52; 4. Elk Point-Jefferson, 6-2, 40; 5. Mount Vernon/Plankinton, 7-1, 19.

Welcome to the Titans: Mount Vernon/Plankinton joins the fray in Class 11B at No. 5, ranked for the first time this year. Winner was a wire-to-wire No. 1 in all 10 rankings this season. After the top-two, the playoff seed points differ from the poll, with MVP No. 3, Groton Area No. 4 and EPJ at No. 5.

Others receiving votes: McCook Central/Montrose 18, Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan 3, Aberdeen Roncalli 1.

Class 9AA

1. Hanson (15), 7-1, 98; 2. Parkston (7), 6-2, 86; 3. Chester Area, 6-2, 62; 4. Florence/Henry, 7-1, 32; 5. Platte-Geddes, 6-2, 17.

Beavers stay No. 1: Hanson stays at No. 1 for the sixth week this season, despite being dealt its first loss of the season against Howard. Parkston received seven first-place votes and stays at No. 2, with Chester Area, Florence/Henry and Platte-Geddes staying the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 slots, with the Black Panthers one point ahead of Ipswich.

Others receiving votes: Ipswich 16, Lyman 8, Timber Lake 8, Canistota/Freeman 3.

Class 9A

T1. De Smet (12), 8-0, 94; T1. Howard (7), 8-0, 94; 3. Herreid/Selby Area (2), 9-0, 71; 4. Wall (1), 8-0, 46; 5. Wolsey-Wessington, 5-3, 13.

Shared at the top: After a shutout win over Class 9AA No. 1 Hanson, Howard earned enough points to tie De Smet for the No. 1 slot in the rankings. Herreid/Selby Area and Wall, also undefeated on the season, stay at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively, while Wolsey-Wessington edged Warner for the final position in the poll by one point after taking its third loss of the season.

Class 9B

1. Avon (22), 8-0, 110; 2. Faulkton Area, 6-2, 83; 3. Potter County, 7-2, 65; 4. Gayville-Volin, 5-2, 40; 5. Hitchcock-Tulare, 6-3, 27.

Solid in the top-5: Avon finishes at No. 1 in the poll, with Faulkton Area and Potter County both moving up one spot at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively. Gayville-Volin falls two spots after a loss at Burke and Hitchcock-Tulare remains at No. 5 after a close loss to No. 1 Avon.
