A quintet of Mitchell High School seniors were named to the Eastern South Dakota all-conference football team on Monday.
Drew Kitchens, Carter Max, Carson Max, Jackson Sadler and Dylan Krogman were all honored by the conference, which named 52 players to the team.
Kitchens and Carter Max are repeat All-ESD members at running back and offensive line, respectively. After 907 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2017, Kitchens led the Kernels with 766 yards and 11 scores this season. Max, meanwhile, helped pave the way for a rushing attack that averaged 244.6 yards per game.
Linebacker Carson Max led Mitchell with 116 tackles-16 for a loss-to go along with two sacks and an interception, while Krogman was second on the team with 69 tackles and a team-high four sacks.
Sadler played his only season of prep football in 2018 and managed to tie the Mitchell school record with eight interceptions, which was originally set by Tim Byrd in 1984.
