HASTINGS, Neb. -- Teegan Evers entered Saturday’s contest against Hastings having scored 22 total points in seven appearances.
On Saturday, the Dakota Wesleyan University freshman exploded for a career-high 28 points as the Tigers’ bench combined for 52 points in a 92-76 Great Plains Athletic Conference win over the Broncs.
Evers and Emery native Sawyer Schultz connected on a pair of 3-pointers to help take a tie game to a 13-point lead with five minutes left in the half, but Hastings was able to trim the lead to seven at halftime.
After the Broncs cut the DWU (16-4, 12-3 GPAC) lead to two three minutes into the second half, Drew Cole came off the bench to hit a 3-pointer and then Ace Zorr went to work, scoring seven consecutive points. Zorr would finish with 19 points on 8 of 11 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds
With less than 10 minutes left, Nick Harden knocked down a 3-pointer, sparking an 18-4 run to help the Tigers pull away.

Evers went 10 of 14 from the field, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. Harden added 16 points, five steals and four assists, while Koln Oppold chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds. DWU shot 50.7% from the field and gained a 35-26 advantage on the boards.
Karson Ganseborn scored a team-high 26 points for Hastings (6-15, 2-14), while Dashawn Walker added 18 points. Mason Hiemstra and Ben Juhl pitched in 12 points apiece in the loss.
DWU hosts No. 9 Morningside at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Corn Palace.
