Ethan's Thompson on top roping team at state rodeo

BELLE FOURCHE -- Ethan's Tate Thompson and J.R. Dees, of Aurora, took home the top time in the team roping short-go Saturday at the South Dakota State High School Rodeo in Belle Fourche.

BELLE FOURCHE - Ethan's Tate Thompson and J.R. Dees, of Aurora, took home the top time in the team roping short-go Saturday at the South Dakota State High School Rodeo in Belle Fourche.

Thompson and Dees combined for a time of 7.260 seconds, which was the best by more than a half-second.

Wessington Springs' Easton Tucker finished second in both weekend and season points at the rodeo in the bull riding event. Ridgeview's Teigan Gray was first in both scoring categories.

Bailey Moody, of Letcher, finished third in the pole bending short-go, with a time of 21.018 seconds. She also finished tied for second for total season points in pole bending, with 59. Spearfish's Rickie Engesser finished first in the short-go (20.616) and Fruitdale's Keanna Ward was the season points-winner (64).
