SIOUX FALLS-Dakota Wesleyan University standout Nolan Wiegel finished third in the fall qualifying rounds of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships at Willow Run Golf Course. Wiegel, a freshman from Huron, shot a 70 on Tuesday to finish the two-day tournament with a 141, one-over par.

The Tigers finished 10th out of 11 teams overall, with Cade Carpenter and Justice Morrison tying for 44th at 23-over par. Jayden Engels finished 49th and Bennett Lundy was 51st.

Northwestern holds a six-stroke lead in the team standings heading into the spring, with its top golfer Caleb Badura atop the leaderboard with a two-under par, 138.

The final 36 holes is scheduled to be played on April 23-24, 2019 at Dakota Dunes Country Club.
