DWU wrestling picks up first win

NORTHFIELD, Minn.--The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team picked up its first win of the season on Thursday, defeating St. Olaf College 27-21 in Northfield, Minnesota.

NORTHFIELD, Minn.-The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team picked up its first win of the season on Thursday, defeating St. Olaf College 27-21 in Northfield, Minnesota.

Tanner Wonch (149-pound weight class), Eutimio Mendivil (157) and Trever Devestern (165) all picked up wins for the Tigers.

Wonch and Devestern earned victories by fall for DWU, while Brandon Scharmer (141) and Matt Schirado (197) picked up victories by forfeit.

The team victory was the first career win for interim head coach Nick Hutcheson.

The Tigers (1-14) take on Chadron State College on Sunday in Chadron, Nebraska.
