For the first time this season, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's basketball team has cracked the top five in the NAIA Division II Coaches Basketball Poll.
Jumping up from No. 12 in the last rankings, the No. 5 Tigers took down then-No. 3 Hastings College (Neb.) on Saturday to claim their seventh conference win of the year. DWU and Morningside College (Iowa) are in a tie atop the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings with a 7-1 GPAC record.
Meanwhile, the DWU men's team fell from No. 9 to No. 13 after suffering a one-point loss to Hastings College on Saturday. The Tigers are 12-5 overall with a 5-3 GPAC record.
Both teams play at Orange City, Iowa tonight against Northwestern College. The women play at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.
