SIOUX CITY, Iowa. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team outlasted Briar Cliff to win its first Great Plains Athletic Conference victory of the season. Set scores were 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-10.
The teams exchanged set victories through the first four sets, with DWU claiming the first one. The Tigers (4-1, 1-1 GPAC) knotted the first set at 15-15 on an Ady Dwight kill. The Tigers never looked back eventually cruising to a 25-22 victory in the first set.
In the third set, DWU used a 8-3 spurt and later tied it at 23 and scored two straight points for a 2-1 lead.
In the take-all, fifth set DWU built a 6-2 and closed out the match on a 6-2 run ignited by a kill from freshman McKenzie Buisker.
Mackenzie Miller led the attack for the Tigers with 16 kills and three blocks, while Ady Dwight and Mariah Gloe added 12 and nine kills, respectively. Meanwhile, Madeline Else tallied 47 assists along with 11 digs, as Dakota Wesleyan racked up 74 digs and eight block assists to secure the victory.
