DWU volleyball can't overcome No. 12 Dordt

The Dakota Wesleyan University women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to No. 12 Dordt College on Saturday at the Corn Palace, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-13.

The Dakota Wesleyan University women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to No. 12 Dordt College on Saturday at the Corn Palace, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-13.

The Tigers fell behind 19-11 in the first set, but managed to trim the lead to just six. However, Dordt responded by four of the final six points of the match to get the win. DWU trailed 21-19 in the second set, but its opponents scored four of the last five points before the Defenders cruised to a win in the third set.

Rebecca Frick led the Tigers with 13 digs and nine kills, while Bridgett Knobbe added 18 assists and seven digs and Sara Herman pitched in 12 digs in defeat.

Ema Altena had a big match for Dordt, racking up 13 kills and 13 digs. Jamie De Jager dished out a match-high 34 assists to go along with seven digs, while Aubrey Drake added 24 digs and Leah Kemp recorded 13 kills.

Dakota Wesleyan (11-4, 1-3 GPAC) take on No. 16 Northwestern College on the road on Thursday.
