SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Dakota Wesleyan University will host the Great Plains Athletic Conference’s indoor track and field championships for 2020, the conference announced Friday.
The meet will be held Feb. 21-22, 2020 at the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex’s Corrigan Fieldhouse. The multi-events — the men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon — will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, with the rest of the indoor meet to follow on Saturday, Feb. 22.
It will be the first indoor track and field championship to be held in Mitchell, coming on the heels of the completion of the DWU’s indoor facility in 2016. The venue has a 200-meter track, plus space for field events and portable bleachers for spectators.
Since 2014, the GPAC championships have been rotated among the conference’s schools, with Doane hosting three times, Concordia hosting twice and Dordt hosting the event in 2017. From 2007-2013, the event was held at the University of Nebraska.
