The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team earned a sweep over Southwest Minnesota State in the team's home opener on Tuesday at McWhirter Field in Mitchell.
DWU earned a 3-2 win in the first game and a 6-2 win in the second game.
In Game 1, the Tigers won in dramatic fashion as Katelyne Dougherty singled and scored on a Sierra Haage double. Dougherty finished with two hits and two runs scored, while Hailey Unger added two hits and one run scored. Savannah Ahumada added two RBIs in the win.
DWU's Hallie Misiaszek, a former Mitchell Kernel, earned the win in the circle. Misiaszek allowed two runs off six hits in seven innings pitched.
In Game 2, DWU used a three-run second inning to pull away with a 6-2 win. Haage led the Tigers with three RBIs, while Karly Severance had two hits and two RBIs.

In the circle, Haage picked up the win, allowing two runs off three hits in seven innings pitched. Haage picked up five strikeouts in the win.
DWU (4-8) plays in a tournament starting on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona.
