ABERDEEN-The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team split a Saturday doubleheader against Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Morningside College. The Tigers fell 13-1 in six innings in the opening game, though rebounded with a 3-2 win over the Mustangs.

Sierra Haage tossed a complete game to lead the Tigers (7-19, 2-4 GPAC) to the win, snapping a four-game losing skid. She struck out 10 batters, while allowing two earned runs on eight hits. She also drove in a run at the plate.

DWU scored all three of its runs in the third, highlighted by Alyson VanderPol's two-RBI double. Andriana Sprakel and Adriana Thomason both had a hit, too.

The Tigers allowed an eight-run sixth inning in the opening game to the Mustangs. VanderPol suffered the loss as she allowed 10 earned runs on 11 hits and six walks in 5 2/3 innings. Sprakel and Karly Severance both doubled for DWU's only hits.

The Tigers play a doubleheader against Briar Cliff at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Sioux Falls.
